As the Creator and Founder of Purple, Purple Tuesday and EnableAll I am one of many disabled stewards who are actively changing the disability conversation. From one that has traditionally been anchored in discussions about charity, vulnerable people and welfare. To one steadfast about contribution, value and opportunity. For disabled people and our wider society.

Purple Tuesday has driven the agenda around the disabled customer experience. Providing reasonable adjustments is simply no longer good enough or acceptable. EnableAll is about showing digital accessibility can be the norm. For all. And Purple is supporting organisations to understand and deliver disability inclusion. Turning warm words into action.

I am motivated by my responsibility to the next generation of disabled people where accessibility should be the norm, not a one off celebration victory. And that ambitions for all disabled people are high and delivered.

Draw on your key strengths to make a difference. The best piece of advice I was ever given. Lived experience of disability is that and how you make it accessible to everyone is where I have developed skills.

So many others have not only followed but have accelerated fast in taking up the disability baton. The disability conversation is changing. In a positive way. For good. I am very proud to have played a very small part in this movement.

Disability inclusion is the only game in town. It is right for the 14.6 million disabled people in the UK. And right for the fabric of our society. Our greatest raw material to deliver: lived experience of disability alongside our allies. All disabled people can be a part of making this happen.
