Stephen Brookes MBE gained a civilian MBE in the 1990/91 Gulf War ‘Ops Granby’ awards before becoming disabled in an accident in 1997. In 1999 he undertook a course at Coventry University gaining a BA First Class Honours in Political Communications in 2002.

Stephen was appointed in 2018 for the three year term as the Minister for Disabled People’s Rail Sector Champion.

He has worked with the Cabinet Office Disability Unit (previously the DWP Office for Disability Issues) and is actively involved with various Disabled Peoples organisations and charities. He is an Ambassador and Rail Policy Adviser for Disability Rights UK .

Don’t be afraid to get involved with designers of access projects. People do listen and change happens.
