Recently retired after 30 years public sector audit and finance career. Between 2002 and 2024 working at Audit Scotland with her final leadership role being Director of Audit Quality and Appointments. Charity Trustee for over 20 years which included Glasgow Riding for the Disabled, Cerebral Palsy Scotland and Exceed Worlwide. Part of Disability Snowsports UK stakeholder involvement group representing stand up skiers. Elaine is an adaptive sports enthusiast and has been an active participant in riding for the disabled, disability snowsports and riding her tricycle. She has found ways to enable participation based on her ability whilst managing cerebral palsy limitations. In recent years Elaine has also taken to the skies. She was awarded a Flying Scholarship for the Disabled in 2018. She has more recently been learning to fly in Scotland with Alba Airsports supported by the British Womens’ pilot association. Elaine was awarded an OBE in the 2023 King’s New Year’s Honours list for charity and public services. In January 2024 she was appointed as an honorary professor for the Glasgow Business School and Society at Glasgow Caledonian University. Finally in February 2024 Elaine was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire. Despite low expectations in her younger years Elaine’s motto is “Don’t be pushed by your problems, be led by your dreams”.

I am a student pilot and i love to fly and travel. I also enjoy riding my tricycle. I like to spend time with my husband and daughter and wider family including my crazy cockapoo.
My family for sure, holidays and days at the beach relaxing. I also enjoy catching up and socialising with friends.

Access for a start – it still feels like an afterthought or inconvenience. Should be mainstreamed and penalties applied where bad practice is identified.
